Ingredients
Scale
Meat
- 1 lb breakfast sausage
Base
- 2 (6-oz) cans refrigerated biscuits, cubed
- 2 cups frozen tater tots
Egg Mixture
- 12 large eggs
- â…“ cup milk
- 1 Tbsp dijon mustard
- ½ tsp onion powder
- ½ tsp garlic powder
- Salt and pepper, to taste
Cheese
- 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
Instructions
- Preheat and Prepare Pan: Preheat your oven to 400ºF (204ºC). Generously spray a Bundt cake pan with baking spray that contains flour to ensure the cake doesn’t stick. Set it aside while preparing the ingredients.
- Cook the Sausage: Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the breakfast sausage and cook, stirring frequently, until it is fully browned, crumbled, and no longer pink inside. Drain off any excess grease to avoid a greasy final dish.
- Mix the Eggs and Seasonings: In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, Dijon mustard, onion powder, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper until well combined and smooth.
- Combine Ingredients: To the egg mixture, add the cooked sausage, frozen tater tots, cubed biscuit dough, and shredded cheddar cheese. Stir gently to combine all ingredients evenly without breaking the biscuit pieces too much.
- Pour Mixture into Pan: Pour the combined mixture carefully into the prepared Bundt pan, spreading it evenly.
- Bake: Place the pan into the preheated oven and bake uncovered for 45 to 55 minutes. Bake until the Bundt cake is golden brown on top and the eggs are fully set, meaning no longer jiggly in the center.
- Cool and Serve: Remove the Bundt cake from the oven and let it cool in the pan for 5 to 10 minutes. When slightly cooled, carefully invert the cake onto a serving platter. Slice and serve warm for a delicious breakfast or brunch treat.
Notes
- Make sure to drain excess grease from the cooked sausage to prevent a greasy casserole.
- You can substitute cheddar cheese with other types of cheese like Monterey Jack or Pepper Jack for different flavor profiles.
- Ensure the eggs are fully cooked by testing that the center is firm before removing from the oven.
- This recipe can be prepared the night before and baked fresh in the morning for convenience.
- If you prefer a spicier version, add some chopped jalapeños or red pepper flakes into the mixture.
