Ingredients
Scale
Tart Shell
- 1 ½ cups digestive biscuit crumbs (or graham cracker crumbs)
- ½ cup unsalted butter, melted
- 2 tbsp granulated sugar
Mousse Filling
- 4 Cadbury Flake chocolate bars (about 35g each)
- 1 ½ cups heavy whipping cream
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 2 tbsp powdered sugar
- 1 tbsp gelatin (optional, for extra firmness)
Decoration
- 2 additional Cadbury Flake bars, broken into pieces
- Fresh berries (optional)
Instructions
- Prepare the Tart Shell: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). In a mixing bowl, combine the digestive biscuit crumbs, melted butter, and granulated sugar. Stir until the mixture is evenly moistened. Press this crumb mixture firmly into the base and sides of a tart pan, creating an even, compact layer. Bake for 8 to 10 minutes until the crust turns a light golden color. Once baked, remove from the oven and allow to cool completely before filling.
- Make the Mousse: Break the Cadbury Flake chocolate bars into pieces and place them in a microwave-safe bowl. Melt the chocolate gently by microwaving in 20-second intervals, stirring thoroughly between each, until smooth and fully melted. Let the chocolate cool slightly but not harden. In a separate bowl, whip the heavy cream with vanilla extract and powdered sugar until stiff peaks form. If you choose to use gelatin, dissolve it in a small amount of warm water, then gently fold it into the melted chocolate. Carefully fold the whipped cream into the chocolate mixture until it is smooth and fully combined without deflating the airy texture.
- Assemble the Tart: With the tart shell completely cooled, pour the prepared mousse into it, spreading evenly with a spatula for a smooth finish. Cover and refrigerate the tart for at least 3 hours to allow the mousse to set firmly and develop its rich texture.
- Decorate and Serve: Just before serving, garnish the mousse tart with broken pieces of Cadbury Flake bars and fresh berries if using. Slice into portions and enjoy this luscious, creamy dessert that balances crunchy crust and delicate chocolate mousse beautifully.
Notes
- Using gelatin is optional but helps the mousse set firmer and hold its shape longer.
- For a gluten-free option, substitute digestive biscuits with gluten-free cookies or graham crackers.
- Be careful not to overheat the chocolate to prevent burning.
- The tart can be prepared a day ahead and stored in the refrigerator.
- Fresh berries add a nice contrast in flavor and color but are optional.
