Ingredients
Scale
Bagel Dough
- 1 package Refrigerated Pizza Dough (Can also use homemade versions)
Filling
- 8 whole Eggs (Can swap with egg whites for a lighter option)
- 1 cup Diced Ham (Try turkey or chicken for a leaner alternative)
- 1 cup Shredded Allegro Cheese (Any melting cheese like cheddar or mozzarella works)
- Salt, to taste
- Pepper, to taste
Boiling & Topping
- 1 tablespoon Honey (Optional but adds a nice touch)
- Bagel Seasoning, to taste (Make your own mix with poppy seeds, sesame seeds, and garlic powder)
Instructions
- Prepare Dough: Thaw your refrigerated pizza dough and divide it into 8 equal pieces. Roll each piece into a ball, cover with a clean kitchen towel, and let rise for 20 minutes to achieve a fluffy texture.
- Cook Filling: In a mixing bowl, whisk whole eggs with a pinch of salt and pepper. Scramble them gently in a pan over medium heat until fluffy. Set aside to cool slightly.
- Boil Water: In a large pot, bring water to a boil. Add a splash of honey to the boiling water to enhance rise and flavor of the bagel bombs.
- Shape Bagel Bombs: Flatten each dough ball into a circle. Spoon scrambled eggs, diced ham, and shredded cheese into the center, then carefully seal the edges completely to encase the filling.
- Boil Bagel Bombs: Drop each filled bagel bomb into the boiling water for 30 seconds to 1 minute. Remove with a slotted spoon and let drain thoroughly.
- Bake: Place the boiled bagel bombs on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper or a silicone mat. Sprinkle generously with bagel seasoning. Bake in a preheated oven at 425°F (220°C) for 20 minutes, or until golden brown and cooked through.
- Cool and Store: Allow the bagel bombs to cool completely on a wire rack. Wrap each individually in plastic wrap or place them in a freezer-safe bag for freezing to enjoy later.
Notes
- You can substitute the ham with turkey or chicken for a leaner option.
- Use egg whites instead of whole eggs if you want a lighter protein option.
- Try different melting cheeses like cheddar, mozzarella, or a blend for varied flavor profiles.
- Make your own bagel seasoning mix by combining poppy seeds, sesame seeds, and garlic powder.
- Ensure bagel bombs are sealed properly before boiling to prevent filling leakage.
- Freezing the bagel bombs separately with plastic wrap prevents freezer burn and allows easy reheating.
